Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) massage is a very gentle, specialised type of massage that encourages the natural movement of lymph fluid through the body. The lymphatic system is responsible for removing waste products, toxins, and excess fluid, as well as supporting the immune system. Unlike deep tissue or sports massage, MLD uses light, rhythmic strokes rather than firm pressure, making it especially helpful for swelling, fluid retention, and recovery from certain medical conditions or surgery.
How it can help
- Reduces swelling (oedema/lymphedema) - Helps move excess fluid from tissues back into circulation.
- Post-surgical recovery - Supports healing and reduces inflammation after procedures (e.g., cosmetic surgery, joint replacement).
- Detoxification - Aids the bodyâs natural waste-removal processes.
- Pain and heaviness relief - Can reduce the feeling of tightness or heaviness in swollen areas.
